Morayo Akandé is a professional actor, writer and director based in Glasgow and London.

 

At just 16 years old she gained a full scholarship to train at the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Academy in California, USA. After graduating she was accepted into the 3 year BA Acting course at the acclaimed East 15 Acting School in London, UK.

 

Her most recent acting credits include short film '1745' (2017), feature film 'Burnt'(2015) directed by John Wells & TV series '24: Live Another Day'(2014).

 

Morayo developed her first short film '1745' with the Scottish Film Talent Network in 2016. It premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2017, has screened at the BFI London Film Festival 2017, was BAFTA Scotland Nominated for 'Best Short Film' 2017 and is nominated for the BIFA Awards 2017.

 

'1745' is a period drama following the escape of two enslaved sisters in 18th century Scotland. She is the writer, and stars in the short as the lead role of 'Rebecca'.
